History Of Handball In India

The history of handball in India began in the mid-20th century, when the sport began to gain recognition. In 1972, Jagat Singh Chauhan, who also founded netball and throwball in India, established the Handball Federation of India (HFI). Chauhan's efforts during the 1972 Munich Olympics helped to establish the HFI, which was affiliated with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The founding member states of the HFI were Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Vidharbha, and Jammu and Kashmir.
